If you are flying in from Portugal, the closest major aiports are Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Nanyuan Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport. In May, daily temperatures in Beijing can reach 33°C, while at night they dip to 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Mon) early enough to fly to Shanghai.

Start off your visit on the 9th (Tue): appreciate the history behind Jade Buddha Temple, get great views at Jin Mao Tower, then enjoy breathtaking views from Oriental Pearl Tower (Dongfang Mingzhu), then go for a walk through The Bund (Wai Tan), and finally get a taste of the local shopping with Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road). Fly from Beijing to Shanghai in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Beijing in May since evenings lows in Shanghai dip to 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) to allow enough time to fly to Hong Kong.

Pack the 11th (Thu) with family-friendly diversions at Hong Kong Disneyland. Spend the 12th (Fri) exploring the fascinating underwater world at Ocean Park. There's still lots to do: enjoy breathtaking views from Victoria Peak (The Peak), get engrossed in the history at Hong Kong Museum of History, engage your brain at Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences, and take a leisurely stroll along Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade.

Getting from Shanghai to Hong Kong by flight takes about 5 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Shanghai in May; daily highs in Hong Kong reach 36°C and lows reach 30°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sun) early enough to fly to Xi'an.

Kick off your visit on the 15th (Mon): make a trip to Kaiyuan Square, then take an in-depth tour of The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, and then explore the ancient world of Xi'an City Wall (Chengqiang).
