Termed "Cathar Country," Aude is a department between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrénées mountains offering many opportunities to enjoy a wine tasting, go fishing, cycle along the shore or on mountain passes, and tour its many Cathar castles. With 10 natural regions, you are sure to find plenty of things to do, such as watching pink flamingos who congregate to the east, go orchid hunting inland, or hike in the forests with rare peatlands to the north and west.
