Reykjavik — 7 nights

Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.Venture out of the city with trips to Thingvellir (Galgaklettur, Thingvellir National Park, &more), Keflavik Maritime Center (in Keflavik) and Blue Lagoon (in Grindavik). Spend the 10th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. And it doesn't end there: pause for some serene contemplation at Hallgrimskirkja, admire all the interesting features of Perlan, appreciate the history behind Sun Voyager, and trot along with a tour on horseback.

Sanaa, Yemen to Reykjavik is an approximately 22.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Arabian Standard Time to Greenwich Mean Time, which is usually a -3 hour difference. When traveling from Sanaa in January, plan for cooler days in Reykjavik, with highs around 3°C, while nights are slightly colder with lows around -1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Thu) so you can drive to Vik.

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.Start off your visit on the 13th (Fri): pause for some photo ops at Voyages Friendship Statue, take in the dramatic scenery at Skogafoss, then explore the striking landscape at Sólheimajökulll, and finally take in the dramatic natural features at Reynisdrangar. On the next day, take in the spiritual surroundings of Reyniskirkja Church, kick back and relax at Reynisfjara Beach, then explore the striking landscape at Dyrhólaey, and finally stroll through Black Sand Beach.

You can drive from Reykjavik to Vik in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Reykjavik in January, Vik is a bit warmer at night with lows of 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) so you can drive to Svinafell.

Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Fellsfjara, then explore the activities along Glacier Lagoon, and then explore the activities along Diamond Beach Jokulsarlon.
