Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.

Venture out of the city with trips to Thingvellir (Galgaklettur, Thingvellir National Park, &more), Keflavik Maritime Center (in Keflavik) and Blue Lagoon (in Grindavik). Spend the 10th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Sanaa, Yemen to Reykjavik is an approximately 22.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Arabian Standard Time to Greenwich Mean Time, which is usually a -3 hour difference. When traveling from Sanaa in January, plan for cooler days in Reykjavik, with highs around 3°C, while nights are slightly colder with lows around -1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Thu) so you can drive to Vik.

You can drive from Reykjavik to Vik in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Reykjavik in January, Vik is a bit warmer at night with lows of 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) so you can drive to Svinafell.

Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Fellsfjara, then explore the activities along Glacier Lagoon, and then explore the activities along Diamond Beach Jokulsarlon. Keep things going the next day: take in the dramatic scenery at Svartifoss Waterfall, then make a trip to Svinafellsjokull Glacier, and then don't miss a visit to Hvannadalshnukur.

Traveling by car from Vik to Svinafell takes 2 hours. In January, daytime highs in Svinafell are 3°C, while nighttime lows are 0°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Geysir.

Geysir tourism revolves around a famed geyser, which goes from very calm to extremely volatile depending on the subterranean seismic activity at the time.
