Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.

You can fly from Rome to Venice in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Traveling from Rome in January, things will get a bit cooler in Venice: highs are around 9°C and lows about 0°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) early enough to catch the flight to Barcelona.

Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.

Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Venice in January; daily highs in Barcelona reach 17°C and lows reach 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) so you can fly back home.
