Savannah — 8 nights

The Hostess City of the South

Step off the beaten path and head to Pin Point Heritage Museum and Shannon Scott Tours. Change things up with these side-trips from Savannah: St. Helena's Anglican Church (in Beaufort) and Old Sheldon Church Ruins (in Yemassee). There's still lots to do: explore the different monuments and memorials at Colonial Park Cemetery, look for all kinds of wild species at Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, learn about all things military at National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, and examine the collection at Georgia State Railroad Museum.

To see other places to visit, reviews, more things to do, and other tourist information, use the Savannah road trip planner.

Newark to Savannah is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Newark in April: high temperatures in Savannah hover around 77°F and lows are around 57°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sat) early enough to drive to Hilton Head.

There's still lots to do: head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, identify plant and animal life at Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, play a few rounds at Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines, and pause for some serene contemplation at The Church of the Cross.
