15 days in Baku & Guba Itinerary

Explore Baku's surroundings by going to Gobustan (Mud Volcanoes, Gobustan State Reserve, &more) and Candy Cane Mountains (in Khizi). Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Baku is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Arabian Standard Time to Azerbaijan Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. When traveling from Riyadh in December, plan for much colder days and slightly colder nights in Baku: temperatures range from 10°C by day to 3°C at night. On the 9th (Mon), you're off to Guba.

On the 9th (Mon), admire the sheer force of Laza Waterfalls and then fly down the slopes at Shahdag Mountain Resort. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 10th (Tue): stroll the grounds of Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, then examine the collection at Khinalig Village, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Afurja Waterfall.

You can drive from Baku to Guba in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Baku in January, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Guba, with lows of -3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 11th (Wed) to allow time for the car ride to Baku.

Traveling by car from Guba to Baku takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Guba in January, Baku is a bit warmer at night with lows of 2°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) early enough to catch the flight back home.
