Norrbotten County is Sweden's diamond in the rough. Its harsh Arctic climate and slightly aloof populace conceal spectacular sights and tourist attractions. The northern location yields midnight suns, arctic nights, and awe-inspiring displays of the Northern Lights. The old town of Luleå along the coast boasts historical 15th-century churches listed as World Heritage Sites. The fascinating Sami culture dominates the county, where igloos and reindeer are not uncommon sights. Make tracks across fresh snow through pine forests while riding at the helm of a dog sledding team.
