Home to Poland's indigenous Goral people, Zakopane sits at the foothill of the Tatra Mountains, an area serving as one of the country's most fashionable year-round vacation getaways.

Getting from Krakow to Zakopane by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Zakopane when traveling from Krakow in July, with lows around 12°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Tue) so you can go by car to Poznan.
