The fourth-largest city in South Korea, Daegu sprawls out across a wide, flat valley overlooked by a sacred Buddhist mountain.Kick off your visit on the 14th (Thu): make a trip to 83 Tower, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Donghwasa, and then steep yourself in history at Bullodong Ancient Tomb Park. The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.Start off your visit on the 16th (Sat): take in the views from Gwangandaegyo Bridge, get outside with Haeundae Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Gwangalli Beach. On the 17th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get great views at Taejongdae, browse the eclectic array of goods at Jagalchi Market, then walk around Yongdusan Park, and finally examine the collection at Trick Eye Museum.

Take a train from Daegu to Busan in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Daegu in July, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Busan: temperatures range from 34°C by day to 26°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Sun) early enough to fly to Jeju.

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. Traveling by flight from Busan to Jeju takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, taxi, and ferry. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Thu) to allow time to fly back home.
