Adelaide, Australia to Reykjavik is an approximately 30-hour flight. You'll gain 9.5 hours traveling from Adelaide to Reykjavik due to the time zone difference. You can fly from Reykjavik to Akureyri in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Reykjavik in January, plan for slightly colder nights in Akureyri, with lows around -5°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Wed) so you can go by car to Svinafell.

Start off your visit on the 18th (Thu): kick back and relax at Fellsfjara, then contemplate the waterfront views at Glacier Lagoon, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Hofskirkja Church. Keep things going the next day: don't miss a visit to Svinafellsjokull Glacier and then admire the sheer force of Svartifoss Waterfall.

Drive from Akureyri to Svinafell in 7 hours. Traveling from Akureyri in January, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit warmer in Svinafell, with lows of 0°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Husafell.

On the 20th (Sat), Head underground at The Cave Vidgelmir, then admire the sheer force of Hraunfossar, and then admire the sheer force of Barnafoss.
