Expect much warmer temperatures when traveling from New York City in December; daily highs in Siem Reap reach 86°F and lows reach 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Thu) to allow time to travel to Don Det.

Drive from Don Det to Pakse in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 89°F, and evening lows to 70°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Mon) early enough to fly to Vientiane.

You can fly from Pakse to Vientiane in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In January, Vientiane is a bit cooler than Pakse - with highs of 83°F and lows of 63°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Wed) so you can fly to Luang Prabang.

Step out of Luang Prabang to go to Nong Khiaw and see 100 Waterfalls, which is approximately 48 minutes away. The adventure continues: admire the sheer force of Kuang Si Waterfall, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham, admire the striking features of Wat Xiengthong, and take in the views from Bamboo Bridge.

You can fly from Vientiane to Luang Prabang in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Vientiane in January, plan for slightly colder nights in Luang Prabang, with lows around 58°F. You will have some time to spend on the 7th (Sun) before leaving for home.
