Take a break from Las Vegas with a short trip to Hoover Dam in Boulder City, about 50 minutes away. Get out of town with these interesting Carmel side-trips: Dolphin & Whale Watching (in Santa Cruz) and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park (in Felton). There's lots more to do: immerse yourself in nature at Point Lobos, tee off at Pebble Beach Golf Links, hike along Scenic Road Walkway, and stroll through Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail.
