The largest city on Canada's eastern coastline, Halifax boast a rich maritime history and occupies a strategically important location with one of the world's greatest natural harbors.Get some historical perspective at Peggy's Cove Lighthouse and Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. Explore Halifax's surroundings by going to Lunenburg (Laurie Swim Gallery, Ironworks Distillery, &more), Hooked Rug Museum of North America (in Hubbards) and Mahone Bay (St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay Museum, &more). There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, steep yourself in history at Grand Pre National Historic Site, stroll the grounds of Old Burial Ground, and stroll around Point Pleasant Park.
