Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Fort Lauderdale is an approximately 12-hour flight. The time zone changes from Brasilia Standard Time to Eastern Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference. Traveling from Rio de Janeiro in January, things will get little chillier in Fort Lauderdale: highs are around 28°C and lows about 19°C. On the 20th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Miami.

You can drive from Fort Lauderdale to Miami in an hour. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. In January, daytime highs in Miami are 29°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to fly to Orlando.

For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.

You can fly from Miami to Orlando in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In January, Orlando is slightly colder than Miami - with highs of 25°C and lows of 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) so you can go by car to Tampa.

Tampa ranks among the country's most livable cities, attracting newcomers with its growing economy and status as a major port on the Gulf of Mexico.
