If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. September in Soča sees daily highs of 28°C and lows of 17°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Mon) so you can go by car to Bovec.

Kick off your visit on the 12th (Tue): don't miss a visit to The Russian Chapel, then identify plant and animal life at Vršič Pass, then contemplate the long history of Ravelnik Open Air Museum, and finally get outside with Outdoor Activities. On the 13th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, admire the sheer force of Kozjak Waterfall, and then admire the verdant scenery at Soča Valley.

You can drive from Soča to Bovec in 1.5 hours. Traveling from Soča in September, things will get slightly colder in Bovec: highs are around 21°C and lows about 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Wed) early enough to drive to Portorož.

Kick off your visit on the 14th (Thu): relax in the rural setting at Fonda Fish Farm, look for all kinds of wild species at Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, and then ponder the design of Da Ponte Fountain. Keep things going the next day: explore the fascinating underground world of Škocjan Caves, then admire the landmark architecture of Praetorian Palace, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, and finally stroll through Portorož Beach.

Traveling by car from Bovec to Portorož takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Bovec in September, with highs in Portorož at 28°C and lows at 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Piran.

Get out of town with these interesting Piran side-trips: Lake Bloke (in Nova Vas), Mašun Castle (in Ilirska Bistrica) and Stari Trg pri Lozu (Snežnik Castle & Hunting Collection and Dormouse Museum). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Tartini Square, take a leisurely stroll along Port Piran, Head underground at Divača Cave, and shop like a local with Nika's Tiny House.
