Trelawny Parish travel guide
Home to Jamaica's most rugged area of wilderness and some of its best preserved colonial architecture, Trelawny Parish balances the manmade and the natural with ease. The parish capital, Falmouth, displays a large collection of Georgian homes, government buildings, and places of worship, as well as the large plantations and estates which made the wealth for the town during the colonial era. To the south, an uninhabitable area of cockpits, sinkholes, underground passages, and caves provide a setting for a large nature reserve, with most of Jamaica's endemic species to be found here. The home parish of Usain Bolt and many other famous track and field athletes, tourism in Trelawny Parish has been growing in recent years because of interest in the sprinter and, ironically, the parish's leisurely pace of life.
