Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.Visit Sacsayhuaman and Plaza de Armas for their historical value. Nature & Wildlife Tours and Qorikancha are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Retaining much of its centuries-old architecture, Ollantaytambo represents one of the world's finest examples of Incan city planning.Visiting Salinas de Maras and Hacienda del Chalan will get you outdoors. Popular historic sites such as Sacred Valley of the Incas and Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Ollantaytambo side-trips: Moray (in Maras) and Seminario Ceramics (in Urubamba). There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Qosqo Ayllu.

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.Museo Larco and Galeria Indigo are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Head to Shopping Center Larcomar (Centro Comercial Larcomar) and Jade Rivera Worldfor some retail therapy. There's much more to do: take a stroll through Miraflores, stop by Barranco, admire the local landmark of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), and admire the masterpieces at Museo Pedro de Osma.

You can drive from Huascaran National Park to Lima in 8.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus; or do a combination of taxi and flight.
