One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
When in Seoul, make a side trip to see Korean Folk Village in Yongin, approximately Yongin away. There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at Gyeongbokgung Palace, get to know the fascinating history of Cheonggyecheon Stream, take a stroll through Bukchon Hanok Village, and get a taste of the local shopping with Myeongdong Shopping Street.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Gimpo International Airport, Incheon International Airport and Osan Air Base. In April in Seoul, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 9°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Daejeon.

Daejeon — 2 nights

A sprawling metropolis and center for research, Daejeon stands as the fifth largest city in South Korea.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Mon): take in the views from Expo Bridge and then identify plant and animal life at Hanbat Arboretum. Keep things going the next day: pause for some serene contemplation at Daeheungdong Catholic Church, meet the residents at Daejeon O-World, then take in the natural beauty of Yuseong Hot Springs Public Foot Bath, and finally admire the masterpieces at Daejeon Museum of Art.

Take a train from Seoul to Daejeon in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Daejeon can reach 22°C, while at night they dip to 6°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Wed) early enough to catch the train to Seoul.
