The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Jeju is an approximately 17-hour flight. You'll lose 8 hours traveling from Amsterdam to Jeju due to the time zone difference. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Thu) to allow enough time to fly to Busan.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.

Get out of town with these interesting Busan side-trips: Gyeongju (Bulguksa Temple & Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond). Traveling by flight from Jeju to Busan takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, and train. In June, daytime highs in Busan are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Mon) so you can go by car to Danyang-gun.

Kick off your visit on the 20th (Tue): make a splash at Aqua World, Head underground at Gosu Cave, and then make a trip to Guinsa Temple.

Drive from Busan to Danyang-gun in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In June, daytime highs in Danyang-gun are 33°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Tue) so you can go by car to Sokcho.

Tourism in Sokcho mostly revolves around the local national park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Change things up with these side-trips from Sokcho: Baekdamsa Temple (in Inje-gun) and Yangyang-gun (Naksansa Temple & Naksan Beach). Spend the 21st (Wed) exploring nature at Seoraksan National Park. You can drive from Danyang-gun to Sokcho in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Fri) early enough to drive to Chuncheon.

The capital of the country's northernmost province, the city of Chuncheon acts a gateway to the wilder sights of the rural region.

Kick off your visit on the 24th (Sat): get in on the family fun at Gangchon Rail Park, then contemplate the waterfront views at Gugok Pokpo, then step off the mainland to explore Nami Island, and finally appreciate the history behind Monument for the Participation of Canada in the Korean War. Seoul is known for sightseeing, shopping, and museums.
