Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Change things up with a short trip to Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) in Ruifang (about 46 minutes away). There's still lots to do: browse the different shops at Taipei 101, get to know the resident critters at Taipei Zoo, make a trip to National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Lungshan Temple.

Kick off your visit on the 12th (Sun): admire the natural beauty at Kim Kyung-Sook Sunflower Farm, enjoy the sand and surf at Hamdeok Beach, then explore the fascinating underground world of Manjanggul Cave, and finally stroll around Sarabong Park.
