The tourist town of Sauraha stands on the edge of the Chitwan National Park and acts as the eastern gateway to a World Heritage-protected area.You'll explore and learn at Sauraha Art Gallery and Tharu Cultural Museum and Research Center. Getting from Kathmandu to Sauraha by combination of car and flight takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or drive. Traveling from Kathmandu in January, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be somewhat warmer in Sauraha, with lows of 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Fri) so you can catch the flight to Pokhara.

An important place of Buddhist pilgrimage, Lumbini represents the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha.Visit Maya Devi Temple and Royal Thai Monastery for their historical value. Ranighat Palace and Kudan Stupa are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Lumbini to go to Tansen and see Shree Amar Narayan Temple, which is approximately 1h 25 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Lumbini Monastic Site, admire the striking features of World Peace Pagoda, and don't miss a visit to Gautami Nuns Temple.

Traveling by flight from Pokhara to Lumbini takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of car and bus. In January, daytime highs in Lumbini are 22°C, while nighttime lows are 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Fri) to allow time to travel back home.
