Poznan — 2 nights

Family-friendly places like Parish Church of St. Stanislaus (Fara Church) and Croissant Museum will thrill your kids. There's lots more to do: make a trip to Stary Rynek, pause for some serene contemplation at Franciscan Church, get to know the resident critters at Stare Zoo Poznan, and contemplate the waterfront views at Malta Lake.

For photos, more things to do, where to stay, and tourist information, read Poznan trip planner.

In January, plan for daily highs up to 1°C, and evening lows to -3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.

Cradle of Poland
One of the country's larger provinces, Greater Poland Province sits in the west-central part of the country. Often called the "Cradle of Poland," the province was an important hub in the nation's early years, when the provincial capital of Poznan, as well as the city of Gniezno, acted as centers of royal power until the mid-11th century. The province is heavily forested, with nearly a quarter of the area covered in dense woods. Hundreds of lakes in the northern and central parts of the province create stunning lake districts.
