Inner Carniola Region travel guide
The Inner Carniola Region is one of the country's most popular spots for outdoor recreation and home to several famous caves and castles. Originally ruled by the House of Habsburg in the 14th century, this heavily wooded area is also known by its Slovenian name, Notranjska. At its center lies the town of Postojna, which has developed significantly since the cave of the same name became one of Slovenia's most well-known tourist sites. Visitors also come to see Sneznik Castle and experience boat trips through Krizna cave.
