The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.Take a break from the city and head to Max Patch and Waterrock Knob. Take a break from Cherokee with a short trip to Cataloochee Valley in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about 42 minutes away.
