A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step out of Baku with an excursion to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan--about 1h 5 min away. There's much more to do: examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center, make a trip to Flame Towers, pause for some photo ops at Sculpture Girl on Bench, and steep yourself in history at Baku Old City.

Muscat, Oman to Baku is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. Expect little chillier temperatures when traveling from Muscat in September; daily highs in Baku reach 31°C and lows reach 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat) early enough to go by car to Ismayilli.
