Montreal — 6 nights

Quebec's Metropolis

Quebec's economic and cultural capital, Montreal serves as the province's major point of entry, known for its rich history and high standard of living.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Notre-Dame Basilica and Place Jacques-Cartier. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Atwater Market and La Cloche a Fromage MTL. There's still lots to do: learn more about the world around you at Biodome de Montreal, look for gifts at Eva B, browse the different shops at Place Montreal Trust, and take an in-depth tour of Pointe-a-Calliere, Montreal Archaeology and History Complex.

To find photos, reviews, traveler tips, and tourist information, you can read our Montreal road trip site.

Use the Route module to find suitable travel options from your home destination to Montreal. In December, daytime highs in Montreal are -1°C, while nighttime lows are -7°C. On the 20th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly to Vancouver.

Get out of town with these interesting Vancouver side-trips: Crescent Beach (in Surrey), Richmond (Steveston Heritage Fishing Village & Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site) and White Rock Pier (in White Rock). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Granville Island, indulge your taste buds at Food & Drink, explore the world behind art at Audain Art Museum, and get into the urban bustle at Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre.
