Denver — 20 nights

Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Denver: Garman Sculpture Works (in Oakland Park), Rocky Mountain National Park (Milner Pass, Trail Ridge Road, &more) and Colorado Springs (Old Colorado City Historic District, Garden of the Gods, &more). Pack the 1st (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. There's lots more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Evans, learn more about the world around you at Denver Museum of Nature & Science, relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, and get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo.
