Poznan — 3 nights

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Park Solacki and Arboretum Kornickie. Step out of Poznan to go to Kalisz and see Aquapark Kalisz, which is approximately 1h 45 min away. There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Franciscan Church, steep yourself in history at Ratusz Poznanski, don't miss a visit to Stary Rynek, and walk around Woodrow Wilson Park.
To see other places to visit, maps, traveler tips, and more tourist information, refer to the Poznan trip itinerary planning website.
Krakow to Poznan is an approximately 4.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or fly. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in August, and nighttime lows around 16°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Fri) early enough to go by car back home.

Greater Poland Province travel guide
Cradle of Poland
One of the country's larger provinces, Greater Poland Province sits in the west-central part of the country. Often called the "Cradle of Poland," the province was an important hub in the nation's early years, when the provincial capital of Poznan, as well as the city of Gniezno, acted as centers of royal power until the mid-11th century. The province is heavily forested, with nearly a quarter of the area covered in dense woods. Hundreds of lakes in the northern and central parts of the province create stunning lake districts.
