Lexington — 3 nights

Horse Capital of the World

Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.
Bring the kids along to Mill Ridge Farm and Ghost & Vampire Tours. Get out of town with these interesting Lexington side-trips: Louisville (Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory & Louisville Mega Cavern), Ark Encounter (in Williamstown) and Vintage Fire Museum (in Jeffersonville). There's still lots to do: admire the majestic nature at Kentucky Horse Park, relax in the rural setting at Godolphin, get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, and examine the collection at Aviation Museum of Kentucky.

To find more things to do, ratings, photos, and other tourist information, go to the Lexington driving holiday planning app.

In October in Lexington, expect temperatures between 70°F during the day and 49°F at night.
