While traveling from Lima, expect a bit warmer days and a bit cooler nights in Huaraz, ranging from highs of 26°C to lows of 8°C. On the 18th (Fri), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Puerto Maldonado.

Step out of Puerto Maldonado to go to Tambopata National Reserve and see Lago Sandoval, which is approximately 50 minutes away. You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Huaraz to Puerto Maldonado in 11.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. When traveling from Huaraz in August, plan for a bit warmer days in Puerto Maldonado, with highs around 38°C, while nights are warmer with lows around 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Mon) to allow enough time to fly to Cusco.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cusco: Iglesia San Martin de Tours (in Huarocondo), Maras (Moray & Salinas de Maras) and Yucay Museo de Cultura Viva (in Yucay). Traveling from Puerto Maldonado in August, things will get cooler in Cusco: highs are around 24°C and lows about 2°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Sun) early enough to fly to Arequipa.
