Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Santa Monica Pier and Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Escape the urban bustle at Santa Monica Mountains and Venice Beach and Boardwalk. Venture out of the city with trips to Rodeo Drive (in Beverly Hills), 26-Mile Bike Path (in Santa Monica) and Disneyland Park (in Anaheim). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at The Getty Center, wander the streets of Golden Triangle, immerse yourself in nature at Topanga State Park, and contemplate the waterfront views at Santa Monica Bay.

Cabrillo National Monument and Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery will appeal to history buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at USS Midway Museum and Marston House Museum.
