Test the local claim that Saint Louis is second only to Washington, D.C. in the number of free activities available by spending your holiday exploring the city's central neighborhoods, famous for their restored century-old red-brick buildings.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House, examine the collection at Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum, then appreciate the history behind The Gateway Arch, and finally examine the collection at City Museum. Here are some ideas for day two: pause for some serene contemplation at Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, then admire nature's wide array of creatures at Saint Louis Zoo, and then take in nature's colorful creations at Missouri Botanical Garden.

Nestled in Missouri's beautiful Ozark Mountains lies one of the country's most attractive vacation towns for year-round family entertainment.
Bring the kids along to Silver Dollar City and Titanic Museum. Step out of Branson to go to Springfield and see Sequiota Park, which is approximately 52 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take some stellar pictures from College of the Ozarks, take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, find something for the whole family at Runaway Mountain Coaster, and trek along Table Rock Lakeshore Trail.
