A major transportation hub, Omaha was once considered little more than a stopping point on a pioneer's journey west.Get out of town with these interesting Omaha side-trips: Ashland (Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari & Cellar 426 Winery) and Lincoln (Nebraska State Capitol, Sunken Gardens, &more). There's still lots to do: catch a live performance at Henry Doorly Zoo, stroll around Heartland of America Park, get engrossed in the history at The Durham Museum, and snap pictures at Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
