Jim Thorpe — 4 nights

Jim Thorpe is a borough and the county seat of Carbon County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Austin T Blakeslee Natural Area and Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm. Get outdoors at Lakota Wolf Preserve and Boulder Field. Get out of town with these interesting Jim Thorpe side-trips: Kalahari Waterparks (in Pocono Manor), Lacawac Sanctuary (in Lake Ariel) and Camelback Mountain Ski Resort (in Tannersville). Next up on the itinerary: fly down the slopes at Blue Mountain Resort, admire the majestic nature at Hickory Run State Park, trot along with a tour on horseback, and admire the sheer force of Hawks Falls.

To plan Jim Thorpe vacation without wasting time, ask Klarna Trips to design an itinerary.

Orlando to Jim Thorpe is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Plan for much colder temperatures traveling from Orlando in December, with highs in Jim Thorpe at 44°F and lows at 29°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Fri) to allow time to fly back home.

Taking up the better part of northeastern Pennsylvania, the Pocono Mountains Region contains more than 6,200 sq km (2,400 sq mi) of rolling mountains, waterfalls, lakes, forests, and streams. A year-round vacation getaway, the region once attracted mostly honeymooners. Today, the Poconos draw adventure-seekers from around the globe, arriving in throngs to explore one of the southernmost ski areas in the United States. Famous for its pristine nature teeming with native wildlife, the region is a quick car ride from New England or New York. The Pocono Mountains do not encompass any major cities--the wilderness area dotted with small towns and natural attractions makes this one of the least polluted portions of the region.
