America's Wine Country

Start off your visit on the 25th (Tue): learn about winemaking at Sonoma Valley, learn about winemaking at O'Brien Estate Winery, and then soar above the sights with a balloon tour. On your second day here, learn about winemaking at Pine Ridge Vineyards, learn about winemaking at Frog's Leap Winery, then do a tasting at Pride Mountain Vineyards, and finally do a tasting at Del Dotto Vineyards & Winery.

Chicago to Napa is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Chicago to Napa. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Lions, Tigers & Bears and Coronado Island. Step out of San Diego with an excursion to The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad--about 34 minutes away. Fly from Napa to San Diego in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Napa in April, expect a bit warmer with lows of 58°F in San Diego. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sun) so you can fly back home.
