Florence — 1 night

Start off your visit on the 4th (Thu): stroll through Cape Perpetua Visitor Center - Siuslaw National Forest and then take in the waterfront at Yachats coastline. On the next day, see Sandland Adventures, then explore the fascinating underground world of Sea Lion Caves, and then visit a coastal fixture at Heceta Head Lighthouse.

Houston to Florence is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Pacific Standard Time, which is usually a -2 hour difference. When traveling from Houston in May, plan for colder days and little chillier nights in Florence: temperatures range from 62°F by day to 49°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Fri) so you can go by car to Newport.
