Pamplona — 5 nights

Pamplona or Iruña is the historical capital city of Navarre, in Spain, and of the former Kingdom of Navarre. The city is famous worldwide for the running of the bulls during the San Fermín festival, which is held annually from July 6 to 14. Get some historical perspective at Monasterio de Leyre and La Torre Abacial. Step off the beaten path and head to Bodegas Tritium and Bodegas Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia. Change things up with these side-trips from Pamplona: Iglesia Santa Maria de Palacio (in Logrono), Altanza (in Fuenmayor) and Iglesia de Santa Maria la Real (in Olite). Next up on the itinerary: learn about winemaking at Marques de Caceres, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de Sta. Maria de Eunate, make a trip to Tourist Office of Sos del Rey Catolico Palacio De Sada, and admire the striking features of Bodega Conde de los Andes.

For where to stay, more things to do, other places to visit, and tourist information, refer to the Pamplona day trip planning site.

In August, daytime highs in Pamplona are 34°C, while nighttime lows are 17°C.
