White Pearl of the Indian Ocean

Swim in the warm waters, stroll over white sand, or play volleyball and other sports on the beaches of Mogadishu, the White Pearl of the Indian Ocean.
On the 30th (Tue), don't miss a visit to Shanghai Old City, then enjoy the sand and surf at Liido Beach Somalia, and then pause for some photo ops at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier -Mogadishu. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 31st (Wed): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hadful Mosque, then get a new perspective on nature at black Hawk Down crash site museum, and then browse the eclectic array of goods at Bakara Market.

Hargeysa — 2 nights

A capital of the self-declared state of Somaliland, Hargeisa is the second-largest city in Somalia.
On the 1st (Thu), explore the galleries of Saryan Museum, then take in the spiritual surroundings of MiG Jet, then buy something for everyone on your list at Dahabshiil Business Centre, and finally pick up some local products at Livestock Market. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the dramatic natural features at Laas Geel.

You can fly from Mogadishu to Hargeysa in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Traveling from Mogadishu in August, Hargeysa is slightly colder at night with lows of 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 2nd (Fri) to allow time for travel back home.
