A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.

Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Baku in January: high temperatures in Nakhchivan hover around 5°C and lows are around -4°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) early enough to catch the flight to Gabala.

Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.

You can drive from Sheki to Ganja in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. In February, daytime highs in Ganja are 11°C, while nighttime lows are 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Mon) so you can drive to Lankaran.

Known for its awesome nature and unmissable cuisine, Lankaran can also inspire with its varied scenes of culture and traditions.

Venture out of the city with trips to Astara (Hirkan National Park & Yanarbulag Spring) and Ozobijon Waterfall (in Lerik). Spend the 24th (Fri) exploring nature at Gizil-Agach State Reserve. Drive from Ganja to Lankaran in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or take a train. Cap off your sightseeing on the 24th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Gobustan.
