Linz — 59 nights

Located on the Danube with a rolling green backdrop, Linz is a city equally rich in nature and culture.
Melk Abbey and Burgruine Duernstein are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Museum-lovers will appreciate Schlossmuseum Linz and FC Francisco Carolinum Linz. Change things up with these side-trips from Linz: Benediktinerstift Göttweig (in Gottweig), Krems an der Donau (Museum Krems, Karikaturmuseum, &more) and Sankt Polten (St.Pölten Rathausplatz Weihnachtsmarkt, Der Hammerpark, &more). Spend the 20th (Tue) exploring nature at Nationalpark Gesaeuse. There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Offensee, stop by Wein & Wachau, learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Linzer Tiergarten, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Parish of the Assumption.

For ratings, where to stay, and other tourist information, read our Linz road trip planning website.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiport is Linz-Hörsching Airport / Vogler Air Base.
