Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.

Drive from Kobarid to Piran in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Kobarid in June: high temperatures in Piran hover around 32°C and lows are around 18°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Tue) so you can go by car to Maribor.

Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.

You can drive from Piran to Maribor in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. In June in Maribor, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 15°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Sun) early enough to catch the shuttle to Ljubljana.

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.

A small town near the Croat border, Brezice experienced a tumultuous history typical for diverse border settlements.

Located on the Adriatic coast, the old fishing town of Izola draws travelers with the enticing atmosphere of its Mediterranean streets.

Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 11th (Sat) to allow time for the car ride to Strunjan.

Strunjan provides easy access to the nearby nature reserve, the longest section of unspoiled coastline in the Gulf of Trieste.

Strunjan is just a stone's throw from Izola. July in Strunjan sees daily highs of 35°C and lows of 20°C at night. You'll set off for Škocjan on the 19th (Sun).
