Charleston — 2 nights

Kick off your visit on the 11th (Tue): contemplate the long history of Boone Hall Plantation, then steep yourself in history at Fort Sumter National Monument, and then get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports. Here are some ideas for day two: go for a charming ride with a horse-drawn carriage tour, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Folly Beach Fishing Pier.

Albany to Charleston is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Albany in April, expect nights in Charleston to be much warmer, around 57°F, while days are a bit warmer, around 74°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Wed) so you can take a train to Savannah.
