Greater Poland Province travel guide
Cradle of Poland
One of the country's larger provinces, Greater Poland Province sits in the west-central part of the country. Often called the "Cradle of Poland," the province was an important hub in the nation's early years, when the provincial capital of Poznan, as well as the city of Gniezno, acted as centers of royal power until the mid-11th century. The province is heavily forested, with nearly a quarter of the area covered in dense woods. Hundreds of lakes in the northern and central parts of the province create stunning lake districts.
Lodz Province travel guide
At the very heart of Poland, Lodz Province is full of small cities and towns amid lushly forested plains. The namesake city and provincial capital, Lodz represents a post-industrial city with a mix of Russian, German, Jewish, and Polish cultural heritage. Other places to visit include Pabianice, Belchatow, Radomsko, and Strykow. Discover medieval cathedrals in Tum and Lowicz, and preserved castles spread throughout the province. Much of the area is covered in unspoiled nature, with seven Landscape Parks maintained as protected areas in the region.
