Hebei's moderate climate and substantial seashore has made it the land of imperial summer palaces--a favorite of the Qing dynasty--as well as royal tombs protected by imposing portions of the Great Wall of China. Places to visit in Hebei includes glistening temples and an impressive Great Wall museum. See the easternmost gate of the Great Wall with its impressive gate, and the end of the wall jutting out into the sea like a huge dragon. Home to over 50 ethnic groups, Hebei features a number of ethnic villages and offers a varied cuisine. Scenic lakes and national parks with free-roaming horses provide well-maintained trails dotted with mausoleums and shrines.
