Mother City

Sweeping beaches, towering hilltops, and picturesque vineyards adorn the landscape of Cape Town, dominated by the imposing Table Mountain.
Get some historical perspective at Robben Island Museum and Groot Constantia. Take a break from the city and head to Boulders Beach Penguin Colony and Signal Hill. There's much more to do: get great views at Cape Point, examine the collection at District Six Museum, trek along Platteklip Gorge, and take a leisurely stroll along Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

If you are flying in from South Africa, the closest major aiport is Cape Town International Airport. In September, daily temperatures in Cape Town can reach 23°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Fri) so you can fly to Maputo.

Walking the broad, leafy avenues of Maputo, Mozambique's capital and bustling harbor city, you can discover numerous architectural gems and come to appreciate the area's Portuguese-influenced culture.
On the 4th (Sat), admire the landmark architecture of Maputo Central Train Station.

Traveling by flight from Cape Town to Maputo takes 7 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Cape Town in September, with highs in Maputo at 33°C and lows at 20°C. On the 4th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Bazaruto Archipelago.
