The River City

The sprawling city of Jacksonville is not only Florida's most populous city, but also the largest city by land area in the continental United States.
On the 1st (Tue), contemplate the long history of McIntosh Sugarworks - Tabby Ruins, look for all kinds of wild species at Egan's Creek Greenway, then contemplate the long history of Fernandina Beach, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Seaside Park. On your second day here, see what you can catch with a fishing tour, kick back and relax at Atlantic Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Jacksonville Beach.

Columbus to Jacksonville is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Columbus in August: high temperatures in Jacksonville hover around 91°F and lows are around 73°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Wed) to allow time to drive to Daytona Beach.

Williston — 1 night

Williston is a city in Levy County, Florida, United States. Kick off your visit on the 4th (Fri): Head underground at Devil's Den and then Head underground at Blue Grotto. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 5th (Sat): look for all kinds of wild species at Two Tails Ranch, take in nature's colorful creations at Cedar Lakes Woods And Gardens, and then explore the different monuments and memorials at Micanopy Cemetery.

Everglades National Park — 1 night

Largest Subtropical Wilderness in the United States

A vast expanse of pristine wetlands, Everglades National Park holds the distinction of being the largest tropical wilderness in the U.S. Overflow from Lake Okeechobee into the Florida Bay formed these wetlands, which are home to manatees, American crocodiles, Florida panthers, and an array of wading birds, land birds, and birds of prey.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sun): trek along Pa-hay-okee Trail, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Pineland Trail, then stroll through Anhinga Trail, and finally hike along Gumbo Limbo Trail.

St. We've included these beaches for you: Madeira Beach and Upham Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Bean Point and Bradenton Beach. Step out of St. Pete Beach with an excursion to Manatee Public Beach in Holmes Beach--about 44 minutes away. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, enjoy the sand and surf at St. Pete Beach, and walk around Jungle Prada de Navarez Park.

Fly from Everglades National Park to St. Pete Beach in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and taxi; or do a combination of bus, train, and taxi. In August in St. Pete Beach, expect temperatures between 90°F during the day and 79°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Wed) so you can catch the flight back home.
