Expect slightly colder temperatures when traveling from Kigali in May; daily highs in Ruhengeri reach 25°C and lows reach 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Kibuye.

Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Tue): get curious at Museum of Environment, contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Kivu, then cast your line with Kivu boat tours, and finally steep yourself in history at Bisesero Genocide Memorial. Drive from Ruhengeri to Kibuye in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In May in Kibuye, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 20°C at night. On the 25th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Nyanza.

On the 25th (Thu), make a trip to The Royal Palace and then steep yourself in history at The Palace of King Mutara III Rudahigwa.
