In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Palazzo Borromeo and Brera District. Step out of Milan with an excursion to Parco della Rocca Borromea in Arona--about 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: get a taste of the local shopping with Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, take an in-depth tour of Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio, explore the different monuments and memorials at Monumental Cemetery, and get the lay of the land with Walking tours.

Located in the popular holiday region of Ticino, Lugano is the largest Italian-speaking town in Switzerland.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sun): take in the awesome beauty at Monte Tamaro, explore the activities along Lake Lugano, and then get great views at Monte San Salvatore.
